Supplemental Group Lessons for Figure Skaters

Figure Skating Academy classes run in conjunction with the Learn to Skate calendar and are designed to enhance participant’s overall skating quality. Academy coaches ensure that all participants develop a strong foundation in fundamental figure skating techniques. These supplemental group classes contribute to the complete skater.

Skaters must be at least Basic 6 or Adult 4 to be enrolled in any Figure Skating Academy Class. It is recommended that skaters interested in pursuing figure skating further than the Basic 8′s consider these classes, as well as scheduling regular private lessons.

All participants must hold USFS Insurance, valid from July 1 – June 30 each year. Insurance may be purchased online or at the Ticket Office. Those enrolled in both the Learn to Skate Program and Figure Skating Academy only need to pay the annual fee one time each year.

Intro to Figure Skating (Basic 2+), $109 | Saturdays 11:30 AM OR Tuesdays 5:30 PM

This 30-minute supplemental class is the perfect addition for our Basic Skills Skaters to get a level appropriate head start on the jumps, spins, and footwork you can’t wait to learn. Learn transitions to link moves together and the importance of performing an element versus completing it. Skaters must be enrolled in the Learn To Skate Program to participate.

Circuit Training (Free Skate 1+) $205 Tuesday 5:00 pm | Saturdays 11:00 AM

One hour of on-ice instruction that covers freestyle elements in circuit style class. Beginning figure skaters will break into groups of similar level to cover jumps, spins, advanced edges, turns, and dance maneuvers laid out by the USFS Basic Skills Free Skate 1-6 curriculum.  Higher level freestyle skaters work on techniques and drills to further the progress of difficult multinational jumps such as the Axel, and introduce double jumps, with and without the pole harness.  Practice will also include advanced spins, such as flying variations, and difficult footwork and turns.
