For safety purposes, there is a maximum of 25 skaters per session.  Each freestyle participant is asked to follow the safety and courtesy rules and guidelines.  Failure to follow these rules may result in a warning, removal off the ice, or the loss of ice privileges.  All Freestyle participants must sign a waiver available at the Ticket Office.

  1. Participants MUST BE Basic Level 5 or above.
  2. Each freestyle participant must have paid for the ice time and signed in before stepping on the ice.
  3. Talking, sitting, or game playing on the ice is not allowed. No stopping or standing on the ice, unless against the boards.
  4. Chewing gum and food are not allowed on the ice.  Bottled water or sports drinks are permitted.
  5. Skaters may not use headphones while skating.
  6. Freestyle CDs will be placed in a rotation order.  They will be played in the order they are submitted. The exception is CDs of skaters in a private lesson.  After the lesson, that CD will be placed at the end of the rotation order.
  7. Areas of practice:
    1. Spins are practiced in the center of the arena
    2. Jumps are executed in the perimeter
    3. Practicing of choreography and other connecting steps must be kept moving
  8. The Right of Way
    1. Running through programs with music in a lesson
    2. In a lesson using the jump or pole harness
    3. Running through programs with music out of a lesson
    4. In a lesson
    5. Out of a lesson
  9. Only Mid-South Ice House authorized coaches are permitted to coach skaters on freestyle sessions. Guest coaches must be approved and authorized by the Skating Director.
  10. Jump harness, cones, and other apparatus may be used as long as it does not interfere with other skaters (at the discretion of Mid-South Ice House staff)
  11. Video recording is not allowed from the bleachers or lobby without prior approval from management
  12. Skaters/coaches must be cautious and aware of other skaters and their jumping patterns
  13. It is the responsibility of all skaters to keep the ice area clean. Remove all belongings before exiting the ice
  14. Treat other skaters and coaches with respect at all time.  The golden rule “treat others as you would like to be treated” is a general rule of courtesy to follow.
  15. The doors to the ice will remain closed during all sessions. Skaters may exit the ice during any session, but this is not encouraged. Skaters are encouraged to get on the ice completely prepared to stay on the ice for the entire session.  All parents are always welcome to view any session from lobby/snack bar and from inner seating area.  During all skating sessions, skaters will not be allowed to have conversations with anyone who is not currently on the ice. Skaters must exit the ice and go into the lobby to speak with any non-skater. A great time for these conversations is during the ice resurfacing.  Skaters on the ice will be under the supervision of their primary coach and/or other Staff coaches only. Our coaches are qualified and insured.
