Learn a Healthy Life Skill!
The goal of the Mid-South Ice House Learn to Skate Program is to teach the fundamentals of ice skating using a variety of safe and enjoyable instructional techniques. Our program serves the need of either the recreational or aspiring competitive figure or hockey skater. Learn to Skate provides exercise and enjoyment for the whole family!
Our school follows the US Figure Skating (USFS) Basic Skills curriculum, the leading learn to skate program in the United States. We are member of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) Excellence On Ice Program. All coaches are members of USFS, PSA, and current on CERs (Continuing Education Requirements). Our program is designed to keep skaters enthusiastic about learning while they progress and develop strong fundamental skating skills that will enable them to participate with confidence in any ice sport. Our professional staff of coaches, each with their own unique skating background, have the special skills and training to keep skaters enthusiastic from their first steps on the ice until they have reached their skating goals.
Learn to Skate is for all ages – adults too! Each class consists of 30 minutes of group instruction followed by a 30 minute practice session for skaters to work on the skills they just learned. Skate rentals are included in the program cost. Helmets are highly recommended for the beginning levels. Remember to dress warmly with mittens, pants and layered garments. Parents and siblings may join the practice session for $5 portion, paid at the Ticket Office (skate rental included).
All participants must hold USFS Insurance, valid from July 1 – June 30 each year. Insurance is only $15 and may be purchased online or at the Ticket Office. Those enrolled in both the Learn to Skate Program and Figure Skating Academy only need to pay the annual fee one time each year.
