Nick Kraft

Mid-South Ice House Skating Director

Skating Director

A native of the Mid-South, Nick Kraft has 20 years of skating experience. He began ice skating at the Ice Chalet in the Mall of Memphis under the tutelage of MSIH pro, David Walker. As he progressed, he spent summers in West Virginia with Heidi & Richard Hartley, and in Connecticut with Olympic Coach Dody Teachman and World Champion Vadim Naumov. Throughout his years as a competitive skater, he learned the importance of persistence, hard work, and self-discipline.

As a teenager, his first job was at the Ice Chalet handing out rental skates and he continued to work there as a young adult instructing both group and private lessons. After the mall closed, he received his BA in journalism from the University of Memphis and completed his internship in Germany. He eventually ended up in restaurant management, but when he heard there would be a new ice rink in town he jumped at the possibility of making a career in skating.

Nick is a member of the Professional Skaters’ Association, US Figure Skating, and the Figure Skating Club of Memphis. He is furthering his education by pursuing his PSA ratings. Currently, he is rated Senior Program Director, Certified Moves in the Field, and Registered Free Skate and Group Instruction.
