Jeff Bloomer has been involved in Hockey for over 35 years as a player, coach and administrator. Jeff moved to Montana as a young child and began his hockey career at age 4. His youth career included high level hockey and several travel and select teams.
His passion and talent in the game grew and at age 16, he packed up and left Montana and enrolled in Northwood Prep in Lake Placid, NY, the top High School hockey program in the country at the time. At Northwood, Jeff played with some of the best HS players in the US, including Chris Therien, Craig Conroy, Tony & Phil Esposito Jr., and Jim Campbell. He participated in World Class events such as Hockey Night in Boston, Chicago Showcase, and several Can Am Tournaments in Canada.
Bloomer received several College offers to play D I hockey, but chose a small, private M.I.A.C. Division III academic school in Minnesota, Gustavus Adolphus College. He played at GAC with his older brother Rob, who was a senior when Jeff was a freshman. Jeff was a 3 year lettermen with the GAC hockey team. During his senior year, he also was the Head Coach of the GAC JV Hockey team.
After finishing school and a successful season coaching at the College ranks, Jeff jumped back out West to Montana into the Tier II A.W.H.L Jr. A league and was an assistant with Great Falls Americans for a year. He then joined the Billings Bulls for 2 years, going to Nationals both years and finishing 3rd in 1997. The next season, Coach Bloomer accepted the Head Coach/ GM position for the Wyoming Outlaws Jr. A team out of Casper, Wyoming.
After the season was over, Jeff moved to Jackson Hole, WY., to manage the local ice arena, oversee all the hockey programs, coach youth hockey and play for the Jackson Hole Moose Sr. A Elite team. While in Jackson Hole, he ran the youth and adult leagues, coaching all levels of youth hockey as well as the “Sr. A Elite” team. Jeff served on the “Jackson Youth Hockey Board” and was “Head of Player Development” for the youth program. He remained there for 13 years until Aug. 2012 when he moved to Texas, to work for the Dallas Stars Hockey Club, accepting the Facility and Hockey Programs Manager positions at the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Euless.
Jeff worked for the Dallas Stars for 4 years, running the DPSC Euless rink and all its “grassroots”, youth and adult hockey programs. Bloomer was Head Coach for several teams while with the Stars, 3 years of HS Hockey, a couple seasons of Travel hockey, and as an assistant with the Tier III Jr. A Stars
Over the years Coach Bloomer has been involved with USA Hockey in the Rocky Mountain District. He has been a member of the RMD Select Camp’s evaluation and coaching staff for over 10 years. Coach Bloomer was an assistant coach for the Select 15’s for four years and Head Coach two years, winning a Bronze and a Gold medal as Head Coach, both in St Cloud, MN.
Jeff has been mentored, raised and trained by one of the most respected men in USA Hockey, Al Bloomer, his father. Al served as USA Hockey National Coach in Chief for several years and now holds title of Director Emeritus at USA Hockey.
Coach Bloomer lives in Olive Branch, MS. and has an 8 year old daughter, Sage, in Atlanta.
His parents Al and Carol live in Red Lodge, MT. Brother Rob, his wife Missy and their 3 kids Megan, Ally, and Luke live in Prior Lake, MN.
